Once in a lifetime experience This 2-day tour is an absolute must! The experience is simply priceless! From Kigali, you will drive about 2 hours to Musanze where you will spend the night. Once you settle in your hotel in Musanze (including in the tour) you can have a walk and enjoy the views over the volcanoes which are the natural border between Rwanda, Uganda and DRC. Early morning the day after, you will drive about 15 minutes to the Volcanoes National Park where you will have hot/cold beverages available while you have your short safety briefing with other people coming for the tour. Then you have a short drive to the starting point and off you go for your trekk that should be around 2h with a few stops to take stunning pictures of the views. Once you arrive in the park, the guide will liaise with rangers who will tell them where the gorillas are so you can find them easily. Finally, the unique moment has arrived! you will spend 1h watching gorillas from a few feet away in their natural habitat! Simply mesmerizing! I can only recommend this tour! Just remember the Gorilla trekking permit is not included so the company will send you the link to the website to buy it (currently 1500USD). It is quite a lot but definitely worth it. The money is used to ensure the gorillas population increase and their habitat protected and extended. The gorillas used to be about 400 individuals 10 years ago and now almost 700 so you are helping a good cause 🙂 Augustin, the guide who picked me up was amazing! Friendly and full of knowledge, he made me discover Kigali before taking the road to Musanze and stopped to allow me to take some amazing pictures. Easily reachable via phone/whatsapp and quick to respond, the whole experience was as smooth as possible!

Exceptional driver/guide for our Rwanda visit and gorilla excursion Our Thousand Hills guide, Claude, was an exceptional good-will ambassador for all things Rwandan. From Kigali-based activities and shopping to advocating for the right level of hike to observe the gorillas he genuinely was responsible for our wonderful experiences. He shared his personal history of the genocide, patiently explained the country's politics, growth and economic development, he taught us about Rwandan culture (music and dance) and its people, even a few words of Kinyarwanda language, and local cuisine. We didn't expect Rwanda to be one of the best places of our Kenya-Tanzania-Rwanda experience, but it was. The gorilla viewing was exceptional and having a guide who helps ensure the experience is suited to your capabilities is essential.

Great day out with plenty of wildlife to see Really enjoyed the trip to Akagera national park, especially seeing Elephants, Hippos and Crocodiles in the wild. Not to mention Zebra, Giraffes and Baboons to name some more. Our driver was friendly and knowledgeable about the wildlife, and found plenty of great locations to see all the wildlife going on around you. One thing to note, make sure you’re prepared for some “African Massages” as some of the roads to the and in the park are a tad bumpy. Overall would throughly recommend...

So many animals, such a great day! We had an excellent day today with Eve and 1000 hills! We were picked up on time and grabbed our packed lunch - one of us was vegetarian and this was no problem to accommodate. One we got to the park and started driving we saw so many of the animals - and more wonderful , many babies. I think we saw : crocodiles, hippos, giraffe, baboons, zebras, antelope and possibly the most exciting was a herd of elephants playing eating and playing by the waters edge. We didn’t see lions or rhinos but there are still only a few having been recently re-introduced and their numbers are still building. It really was such a wonderful day. Eve was a great responsible driver who was concerned both for our comfort and safety- and also the animals. Before the visit we had lots of communication from 1000 hills so we felt confident about the pick up time and what to expect. AMAZING!
